Why Your Business Should Have a Company Blog
More and more businesses are using blogging as a way to reach their customers, but why?
Blogging can be a really important part of your company’s marketing strategy, but we get a lot of questions about why companies should have a blog:
- How can it help me reach more customers?
- Does it improve my website traffic?
- What would I write about and how it would help my business?
Here I’m answering those 3 questions and I’ve added a few tips on how to get started.
It helps you acquire more customers
One of the most important reasons your business should have a company blog is to acquire more customers.
Another study showed that more than half of companies that have an active blog reported that they’ve acquired leads directly from specific blog posts.
How can your business utilize a blog to generate more customers? Here are a few things we suggest you try:
- Offer a related ebook download at the end of your blog article.
- Include links to related articles or landing pages.
- Have a signup form available for your email newsletter. (Don’t have an email newsletter? This is a great way to start building your list!)
It improves your website traffic
Each blog that you write is another opportunity for a new set of eyeballs to find your company’s website.
Companies that have an active blog have 434% more pages indexed by Google than those without, so that means a huge opportunity for new visits to your website.
A blog allows you to keep your website updated with new, relevant content that your customers will be interested in reading based on what they’re searching for online.
It’s also important to note the things you should be doing with your blog to improve traffic, so check out this blog over at Moz for some helpful tips.
It builds credibility and trust
More than 80% of people who read company blogs trust the advice they read, so having a company blog is a great way to share the knowledge you have in your industry.
Many of our clients have blogs dedicated to sharing helpful tips and information related to their products or services.
For example, if you own an HVAC company, you can provide great resources for what you’re customers are looking for like a troubleshooting guide for plumbing problems or a product comparison for popular air conditioning units.
You’re the expert at what you do, so think about the resources you can provide to your customers and write a blog about it.
Not sure where to start with blogging or where you’ll find the time to gather information? Start by getting your employees involved!
Your company’s employees are also experts in the industry and can lend information in their area of expertise to help fuel the content in your blog.
