This SEO Mistake is a Turnoff to Your Security Website Visitors
on July 19, 2019
Every website needs to be found online, or there’s no point in having a website. That’s where SEO can help.
Unfortunately, many security companies hire cheap, shady SEO agencies to “optimize” their websites. And their methods often focus on ranking the website, not helping people find the information they want.
This method often leads to content that reads something like this:
Cryton Security is the best security company in Atlanta, GA. With decades of expertise, Cryton Security is the top security company in Atlanta, GA that provides high-quality security products and services. Our skilled security professionals are here to meet all of your Atlanta, GA home security needs.
So what’s wrong with this?
Well, aside from the fact that it’s completely nonsensical (who talks like that?), it’s also:
- Stuffed with keywords
- Redundant (partially due to the keyword stuffing)
- Filled with hyperbole, probably because the SEO agency does not know how to sell a company, so it relies on pompous generalizations to add more content.
Focusing only on this type of SEO is not only ineffective in getting traffic, it turns away the traffic you do get.
Keyword stuffing makes for very unnatural, hard-to-understand content. And website pages that are hard to understand almost always lead to fewer conversions.
The solution
Instead of keyword stuffing, strive to create content that’s simple. Speak the language of your customer—not a Google robot and definitely not one of your techs (stay away from security jargon).
A few examples of how we’ve structured content for our security clients:

Our client, Richmond Alarm's security monitoring page

Our client, Bates Security's business security alarm systems page
See any keyword-stuffed sentences in the examples above?
Absolutely not. That’s because we know there’s so much more to SEO than having keywords repeated over and over on a single page.
According to Moz, a perfectly optimized page/site:
- Provides unique, valuable content
- Provides a phenomenal user experience (UX)
- Is keyword-targeted
- Works well on all devices
- Is accessible to bots
Implementing all these best practices requires a variety of experts including a(n):
- SEO Specialist
- UX Strategist
- Content Strategist
- Web Designer
- Web Developer
- Digital Copywriter
Clearly, this isn’t just an SEO agency’s job!
What you need is a full-service digital agency that can improve your entire website. Or, even better, an agency that focuses on security websites.
